Paris à l’inifi! Laurent le Bon, curator of the Museum of Modern Art at the Centre Pompidou, is the Artistic Director behind (Paris to Infinity), this year’s theme for Paris’ 11th annual Nuit Blanche. For those of you still considering last minute travel dates, experiencing one of Paris’ greatest comprehensive cultural events is a must.

Go ahead & book your arrival for  Saturday, October 6th, & don’t worry about the jetlag! Take a nap when you arrive, then gear up for any number of cultural events, Paris vistas or promenades that Nuit Blanche has to offer. From 7pm – 7am, the night’s events begin at la Maison de la Radio à l’Ouest (16th), and follow the Seine all the way to Ivry. The streets along those Quais will be pedestrianized for the night. All events are free.

Panorama of Paris – A number of observatory points, normally closed to the public, will be open at your leisure:

 – the terrace of la Tour Morland, situated on the 15th floor, in the 4th arrondissement;
–  la salle du Haut Conseil, situated on the 9th floor de l’Institut du Monde Arabe, in the 5th;
–  the 24th floor de la Tour Zamansky, l’Université Pierre et Marie Curie, on the campus at Jussieu, in the 5th;
–  the 18th floor de la  bibliothèque François Mitterrand, in the 13th.

While children are welcome throughout Nuit Blanche events, unless specified, there are some special events just for children & families at Jardin Tino Rossi (8 quai Saint- Bernard, in the  5th, Métro Jussieu) from 7-11pm. le Palais de Tokyo, le Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, le Musée Guimet, l’École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts, le Grand Palais, le Petit-Palais, la Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine le Musée des Arts Décoratifs, le Musée du Louvre, le Centre Pompidou, la Cité Internationale des Arts, l’Institut du Monde Arabe, la Bibliothèque François Mitterrand ou encore la Maison rouge, la Cinémathèque française ou le Théâtre 13.

Public Transport: 

The Métro will be open with extended hours until 2am. SNCF regional trains & RER run as normal (no specially extended hours). AFTER 2am, the Métro is FREE from 2-5:30am, but only 2 lines (along the areas of events) will stay open with the following limited stops: Line 1:  Trains every 7 minutes, stopping at: Château de Vincennes, Bérault, Saint-Mandé Tourelle, Porte de Vincennes, Gare de Lyon, Saint-Paul, Hôtel de Ville, Châtelet, Palais Royal – Musée du Louvre, Concorde, Champs-Élysées – Clemenceau, Franklin D. Roosevelt, George V.  Line 14: Trains every 4 minutes, all stations! (This is the automated métro line sans driver).

Night Buses: The Noctambus lines that will be running will have extra buses to accomodate the crowds; the following lines will not be operating: N11, N12, N13, N14, N15, N16. If you are staying in the suburbs, double-check terminus points, as several lines will stop early at Gare Montparnasse, Gare de Lyon, Gare de l’Est or St.-Lazare.

Velib: You can always hop on a bicycle & drop it off at the next Velib station, wherever you land. Bikes will be in high demand, so some areas might not have any left. Never fear, there is likely another nearby station. Check out the Velib website for details.

Nuit Blanche is an experience you will find in no other city. You can always count on the Parisians to take pause & explore the unexplored, find poetry amidst the rush & city grime.
