Paris Travel & Relocation Quick List

Quick list for your Paris visit:

  1. Check your passport expiration date / renew or apply for your passport.
  2. Browse for airfare. Browse for apartments or hotels.
  3. Decide your budget.
  4. Book your accommodation.
  5. Book your flights. Select your seats if you can.
  6. Buy international health insurance.
  7. Buy mandatory renter’s insurance (if you’re renting an apartment).
  8. Browse tourist activities & closure dates.
  9. Search for childcare (if you’ll be needing it).
  10. Make your departure checklist (don’t forget the passports, baby…)
  11. Departure -4 days: Pack.
  12. Print your tickets & accommodation information.
  13. Buy an international power adapter (you can always find them in the airport)
  14. Edit your packing (remove at least 10%).
  15. Pack a change of clothes in the carry-on bags.

Quick List for long-term Paris relocation:

  1. Check your passport expiration date / renew or apply for your passport.
  2. Browse for airfare. Browse for apartments or hotels.
  3. Decide your budget.
  4. Consider a brief visit to Paris to visit apartments.
  5. Visit schools in Paris.
  6. Book your accommodation. / Enroll in school.
  7. Book your flights. Select your seats if you can.
  8. Buy international health insurance.
  9. Buy mandatory renter’s insurance (if you’re renting an apartment).
  10. Research childcare (if you’ll be needing it).
  11. Browse weekly activities & tourism options.
  12. Double check international banking/ATM fees. Plan to either withdraw € at the airport OR exchange $ in advance. Consider opening a French account.
  13. Speak to your doctor/pediatrician to make sure all boosters, medications, etc. are up to date.
  14. Departure -2 weeks: Begin previsionary packing.
  15. Buy an international power adapter.
  16. Make your departure checklist (don’t forget the passports, print tickets, baby)…
  17. Departure -1 week: Secure your home/prepare it for tenants if you’re renting it out whilst abroad.
  18. Edit your packing (remove 25%). You will buy things there.
  19. Let your bank know you are moving abroad (so it doesn’t put a freeze alert on your cards).
  20. Pack a change of clothes in the carry-on bags.
