La Butte aux Cailles

La Butte aux Cailles is the highest point in Paris, even higher than Montmartre, & is home to this picturesque village neighborhood juxtaposed against modern buildings surrounding Place d’Italie. This two bedroom house is complete with garden & sunning balcony, very close to Métro Corvisat (green, Line 6) or Tolbiac (pink, Line 7)in the 13th Arrondissement. It’s not exactly the center of Paris, but it is a unique property, well accessible by bus or metro. If you fancy a walk, you can also reach the Seine at Notre Dame in 40 minutes.

At your doorstep is a quartier full of affordable eateries, an indoor shopping mall & movie theatre, public pool, parks, Chinese supermarkets, & all the usual French icons (boulangeries, brasseries, cafés, etc.). The Piscine de la Butte aux Cailles

is in itself an historic monument, featuring both indoor & outdoor pools.

There are some of the most delicious, authentic Thai, Vietnamese & Chinese restaurants I’ve ever had. A Parisian Laotian friend led us to Lao Lane Xang 2, where we proceeded to stuff ourselves silly. You can even order a scoop of stinky Durian Fruit ice cream. Do not underestimate the pungent odor. Reservations recommended.

This is a popular area, slightly off the main tourist track.
